Lindisfarne claimed its third CTPL Men’s 1st Grade T20 premiership following a last gasp effort from its lower order to help topple Clarence at Blundstone Arena last night.
CTPL Men’s 1st Grade T20 Grand Final Scorecard
With intermittent rain shadowing the ground before the toss, the Lightning had no hesitation in sending the Roos into bat, but the decision would have been questioned early, with opening pair Harry Allanby (13) and Daniel Salpietro (39) firing the score to 42, but excellent economical spells from Jarrod Freeman (1/17 off 4), Alex Bevilaqua (1/25 off 4) and Ant Marr (1/26) halted the momentum and helped restrict the Roos to 6/145 from 20 overs.
In reply, a steadfast knock from Wright (45 off 45) as well as significant contributions from Freeman (20 off 11), Sam Underhill (13 of 6) and 2015/16 premiership hero Ant Marr (10 off 3) helped seal a nail-biting two wicket victory for the Lightning.
For his resolute knock at the top of the order, Mac Wright was adjudged the Player of the Final.
Lindisfarne now head to Adelaide in early March to represent Tasmania and compete in the CA National Premier T20 Championships.
