The roster for the Detail First 2017/18 season has today been released marking 50 days until the CTPL 1st Grade competition commences.
The format of the 1st Grade competition is largely consistent with previous seasons involving a mix of Twenty20, One-Day and Two-Day matches culminating in a three-day final.
On the 7th and 8th of October, Twenty20 matches will be played at Lindisfarne Oval, Kingston Twin Ovals and for the first time Kangaroo Bay Oval. A Grand Final replay will take place first thing at Kingston on Saturday when SHSB, who will be looking for a third consecutive CTPL 1st Grade Premiership in 2017/18 take on North Hobart. Moving forward 1st Grade will play a one-day round on the 14th October before all grades resume on the 21st and 22nd October.

One of the biggest changes to the competition this season is the introduction of the Cricket Tasmania Under 19 team into the Kookaburra Cup one-day competition, which will actually be the first competition to commence in late September. The Under 19's first task will be the Knights at Kingston before backing up against the Demons also at Kingston with the TCA Ground undergoing renovations. Clubs will play each other and the Under 19's once throughout the season before the final on the Hobart Regatta Day Public Holiday.

The involvement of the Under 19's will provide greater opportunity for players to play, and play as a team against quality opposition in preparing for National Championships which will be held in Hobart and Launceston this December. When scheduled against the Under 19's clubs will have first choice for player selection. Performances in the matches against the Under 19's will be included in the Rodwell Medal votes and averages and aggregates although player performances for the Under 19's and their club will be mutually exclusive. Points gained against the Under 19's will contribute to the Kookaburra Cup competition only.
The CTPL Women's Competition will again be contested over 14 rounds of Twenty20 cricket with the introduction of a separate One-Day Knock Out competition. It will be the first taste of One-Day cricket for the Women's competition since 2012/13.
The Girl's Under 17 competition, which this year will adopt CA Junior Formats, continues to go from strength-to-strength with the competition expanding to 14 rounds mirroring the Women's including two double header rounds at CTPL Club venues with the Women's. The finals of the competition will also be played as double headers with the Women.
There will be double the opportunity for CTPL Boy's Under 15's to take home silverware in 2017/18 with separate One-Day and Twenty20 Competitions introduced. The One-Day competition contested over the length of the season will see clubs play each other twice before a finals series while the Twenty20 Competition will be contested in two pools of four culminating in a Finals gala day.
The 40 & Over competition this year welcomes University of Tasmania CC in addition to the return of Clarence DCC, Glenorchy CC, 2016/17 premiers Kingborough DCC, New Town CC, North Hobart CC and South Hobart Sandy Bay CC. The four match roster will be contested from November through to the Final on the 18th February.
