Noel V Diprose
A product of Glenorchy – born and bred – Noel Vertigan Diprose was a one-club cricketer. Born in Hobart on 5 March 1922 he lived close to his home ground at Eady Street where his right arm medium pace bowling was legendary.

His bowling exploits resulted in a total 762 wickets over his 24-year career, positioning him in fifth on the list of all-time wicket takers in TCA/CTPL history. He was not only prolific, but economical claiming his wickets at the miserly average of 13.49. On three occasions he surpassed 50 wickets in a season; 1943/44 in which he claimed the competition aggregate with 52 wickets, 1951/52 with 53 wickets and lastly in 1956/57 with his best haul of 54 wickets.
He was a significant contributor to Glenorchy CC’s nine premiership successes during the 1940s and 50s and was made a Life Member at Glenorchy in 1957. He has been further honoured by the club with his name on the club’s MVP award.
He played fifteen first class matches for Tasmania between 1947 and 1957 taking 36 wickets including a best of 7/83 v Victoria. Additionally, he represented the South on fifteen occasions in intrastate cricket from 1943 to 1958 taking 54 wickets. Large wicket hauls eluded him in these contests, but he could always be relied on to tie up an end.
