Emerson E. Rodwell

 

Emerson Rodwell’s career began in 1938 as a 17 year old, continuing for twenty six seasons until his retirement in 1964, playing exclusively with Glenorchy.

 

Over the duration of his 293-game career Emerson scored 11,703 runs including 29 centuries and two double-centuries.  He was also a very capable bowler taking 355 wickets.

 

Emerson’s leadership was renowned, captaining Glenorchy to eight premierships including to six titles in seven seasons from 1951 to 1957.

 

He was also a member of three other Glenorchy premierships, including back to back flags in 1942 and 1943 and being player of the final in 1963.

 

Emerson Rodwell played 18 First-Class matches for Tasmania.  The Premier League Cricketer of the Year award is named in his honour.
